I don’t know what this is with Africa and me. I know that people say that once you’ve been on African soil you will always come back. I’ve been coming back to Africa since 1984…I spent many winter holidays of my childhood either in Namibia or later in Cape Town. And every time I am coming back it fascinates me even more! Cape Town seems to become a really big city now with the preparation for the soccer world cup! I’ve never seen so many cars on the road. Construction sites are still present but a lot has been done since March 2009. The airport has been expanded with more parking areas and a new departure building for domestic and international flights. This time I stayed at sunset beach, beautiful guesthouse, not far from the beach. And I finally managed to drive the Chapman’s Peak – in March it was still closed except for sports events and I did the Garden Route again for the first time in 13 years. Knysna, Mossel Bay, Tsitsikama, Jeffries Bay. My most favorite drive is from Cape Town to Hout Bay. Very scenic with the Twelve Apostles and the Signal Hill…The good news is, if all goes well I will be back in May and this time it will be Namibia again!!
